PRESCOTT FIRE DEPARTMENT FAMILY LOSES ONE OF THIER OWN

Prescott Fire Department lost one of their own on Tuesday February 24, 2009. Recently retired (November, 2007) Battalion Chief Brad Malm passed away yesterday after complications from heart surgery. Chief Malm will be sorely missed by our department and the community.

Chief Brad Malm spent 30 years with Prescott Fire Department retiring in November 2007 as a battalion chief. Chief Malm was a core leader in the Prescott Fire Department specializing in his skills as a paramedic, fire scene commander, instructor and fire academy coordinator at Yavapai College, and leader of the hazardous material and technical rescue teams. Chief Malm has always been close to many of our department members. He often could be found exercising at the firehouse on White Spar and actively attending fire department functions on a regular basis.

Chief Malm is survived by his two children Nate and Orissa, and four grandchildren. Donations are being accepted for the Malm Family by Prescott Firefighter Charities at Prescott Fire Administration at 2086 Willow Creek Road. Services for Chief Malm will be held in the City of Prescott and are still being coordinated by the family with the assistance of the Prescott Fire Department. The Prescott Fire Department family will miss the presence of our friend and colleague Chief Brad Malm.
