Salt Lake City

While in Idaho, we took a road trip to Salt Lake City, it was actually our last day, we planned it this way and just flew home from Salt Lake City instead, anyway. Alyssa had a volleyball tournament on Friday and Saturday there, we were really looking forward to going and watching her. Once we got to Salt Lake, some things changed. Dan started feeling really guilty that the girls really didn't get to do anything exciting while we were in Idaho and after finding out it was kinda pricey to get into the tournament, we decided not to go, sorry Boo. We just knew there was no way they would sit there quietly and watch. We ended up renting a car of our own and explored Salt Lake City a little bit. I was totally surprised at how much there is and was to do there. They have so many family friendly activities it wasn't even funny. We have added Salt Lake City to our list of Cities to vacation too, it was AWESOME!! On Friday night, Aunt Lori volunteered to stay with Allison in the hotel while we took Ashley to the Clark Planetarium. It was located right downtown, there downtown area reminded us of Prescott's downtown area, just on steroids, talk about shopping and things to do, whoa baby! Any way the planetarium was pretty neat we enjoyed looking at all the exhibits and reading and learning all about our solar system, we even got to watch a laser light show, set to rock music, that was ok. =)

On Saturday, we got up and headed out to Thanksgiving Point. Which is a place with all kinds of fun and education things to do as a family. Ashley has recently really taken an interest into dinosaurs so our first stop was the Museum of Ancient Life. We got to see tons of dinosaur fossils, statues all while learning about them both by reading and hands on, it was pretty amazing. They had so many huge displays including a Tyrannosaurus Rex. They had games, a bone yard where kids can dig for fossils and we even watched a 3D movie about dinosaurs, Ashley was in heaven!

Well then we went to check out the Farm Country. They had animals you could feed, a demonstration on how milk is pasteurized, including watching them milk a cow. We thought Ashley was excited about the dinosaurs, until she learned that she got to feed, pet and ride animals. Of course her favorite part of her day was riding the white horse, which she did twice. =) After Farm Country we made a quick stop into the ice cream shop for a quick snack before rushing back to get our stuff to head to the airport. We all had a really fun day. Alyssa we are so sorry we missed your games. We are very proud of you and think you are awesome. We love and miss you, well all three of you a ton. Thank you guys again for a great vacation.
