We are home from visiting the Karg's in Texas. We had such a great time, and our four days flew by way too quick. The sad thing is we really didn't do a whole lot. Prior to leaving for our trip people would ask "what part of Texas are you going too" I'd say Midland and they would give me a look like ok... See the thing is, we may have been going to Midland, a smaller town, with nothing too exciting going on, but for us we weren't going to Midland, we were going to see our best friends. For us it was about catching up, hanging out and just spending time together...and we did just that!!
Our countdown began the day after Christmas, the girls, especially Ashley could hardly wait to get to Phoenix.
Here we are waiting at the airport. The girls did great on the flights, we even had to transfer planes in Albuquerque. We arrived around 10 o'clock at night, so the kids were all in bed when we got there. Ashley was able to sneak in some hugs and kisses to Faith and Austin.
The next morning we took our time getting up and getting ready. One of the things Midland is know for is it is where President George Bush grew up, so of course we had to stop by and take a picture outside his childhood home. =)
we had to stop by and have Bahama Bucks, i absolutely love this place, I think I'm the one who introduced it to Sara, anyway its been forever since I have been and after having one I am not sure why cuz it was so yummy!!! The girls loved them too, needless to say we went back a couple more times while we were there.
On Friday we surprised Austin and Faith and had lunch with them at school. They enjoyed showing the girls off to their teachers and friends and showing us their classrooms.
We had to stop by and see a fire station, while we were there. Their downtown station had a small ll little museum in the front, after we looked at that we got a tour of the whole station and all the fire trucks. They were so nice, we spent almost 2 hours there. Do you remember Baby Jessica? Well, I totally forgot till this day, that this is where she lived, where she fell in the well at, where she was rescued. A couple of the fire fighters that actually rescued her were there that they, so cool! I remember being a little girl and being glued to the TV watching them save her that day. There in the station, they had the backboard and a few other things from the rescue of baby Jessica.
Another quinky dink is, Midlands Assistant Chief and Fire Marshal, actually used to work for Prescott fire, small world aaa? Yup, he knows many of the guys still on the department here, so it was fun to chat and share stories of him about home.
This was the poor guy who got stuck showing us around and putting up with us the whole time. =) He actually said we weren't too bad, he said it was nice giving a tour to people who already knew fire stuff. =)
Well, that is it, ha you should know better that there is more to come, so check back soon, for more pictures and stories of our trip to Texas.
