J's Fall Break

Ok let me tell you about the Fall Break J had, it is not what most pre-teen girls look forward to.

J actually spent it sick and even had to spend a few days in the hospital. She has been fighting ear infections for about a month or two off and on. She has been in and out of all kinds of Dr's offices and with no real resolution. As you can imagine her ear infections have been causing her to have problems in PE, tumbling, and stunting. (her equilibrium has been off) Well her ear drum finally burst ed over Fall Break. At first we though oh good maybe all the infection will come out now. Well it didn't (not right away anyway) she ended up in the ER on Thursday night because she was in so much pain and she started to swell behind the ear. (The Dr told her to watch for that, because that was bad) Once in the ER they hooked her up to IV's and even performed a Kat scan to make sure her infection hadn't traveled in to the bones. Luckily she got there in time and they were able to stop it from spreading. The Dr's were considering surgery for a little bit, but once pumping J with 4 bags of antibiotics that was ruled out. She was in so much pain they had her on MORPHINE! With very little sleep J was finally released on Saturday morning.

J is now home and doing well. She had some dizziness, a little nausea and her ear is still a little sore, but she seems to be getting a little bit better everyday. She is on lots of medication and has a follow up appointment later this week. We will keep you posted on her results.
